Ranking Methodology
Using data from NCES (National Center for Education Statistics), we applied the following approach:
- This ranking is determined using the most recently available average net price per institution, sourced from NCES.
- First, find all U.S. colleges/ universities indicated in NCES as offering “distance” bachelor’s programs. (NCES does not distinguish between ‘distance’ and ‘online’ programs.)
- Keep only those schools offering “Organizational Leadership” (OrgLdr) and closely-related topics (listed in article introduction).
- Schools with either online or hybrid “OrgLdr” bachelor programs were considered.
- Schools with Ministry and Leadership programs were not considered, unless they had an OrgLdr bachelor’s program.
- Sort candidate schools on the basis of NCES’ lowest average undergrad net price.
- Schools with no net price and/or no first-time full-time undergrads were not considered.
- Filter list to keep schools that actually offer online or hybrid bachelor’s degree programs in
- Manually verify all schools that actually offer online or hybrid master’s degree programs in organizational leadership or strategic leadership.
- Select the first 25 (most affordable by net price) institutions.
NOTES
- Net price is the average academic year cost to undergrad students, factoring in tuition, fees, books, and other expenses (as defined by NCES) associated with attending college, either in-person or online.
- Tuition for a given institution is subject to change.
- Actual cost for online students may differ based on living arrangements. Online programs/ courses may have fees or differences not applicable to on-campus equivalents. Some programs listed in this article require partial on-campus residency to graduate.
