5. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship
These awards are made in honor of the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President and support students with strong academic performance, financial need, and who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. 4. Burger King Scholars Program
The Burger King McLamore scholarships are named after Burger King’s co-founder, and are expanding yearly with the eventual goal of granting a $1,000 yearly scholarship for over BK restaurant in North America. Recipients are selected based on grade point average, work experience, extracurriculars, and community service.

3. Most Valuable Student Scholarship
According to the Elks Lodge rubric, the 500 most highly wanked applicants will recieve 4 year scholarships ranging from $1,000 per year, to $12,500 per year. Contestants need not be related to a member of the Elks, and for any given contestant, the odds are higher as you’re only competing against half the contestant pool (males and females compete seperately).

2. Amy Lowell Poetry Travelling Scholarship
For all you poets out there, here’s your chance to have a year to write. Applications must include a representative sample of recent poetry that may not exceed one printed volume plus 20 pages (or 40 typed pages total). The award is available for the funding of one poet’s stay abroad for a calender year. Past recipients include many distinguished poets including Elizabeth Bishop and Stanley Kunitz.

1. Gates Millennium Scholars
The Gates Millenium Scholars Program provices a bridge program, support for students at university, and a pledge to cover the entire cost of unmet need and self-help aid. The goals of the program are to promote academic excellence and provide opportunity for minority students with significant financial need. Support is available from undergraduate through doctoral programs for select disciplines. Target academic groups include computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health, and the sciences. The Gates Millenium Scholars Program has a very succesful track record with Scholars enrolled in more than 1,865 colleges, and 10,315 scholars completing degrees since 1999.
